Royal Society Discussion Meeting: Utilising the Genome Sequence of Parasitic Protozoa
نویسنده
چکیده
Protozoan parasites cause some of the world's most important diseases. Genome sequencing information is rapidly being acquired and combined with new developments in functional genome analysis to transform our understanding of parasites, and to enable new approaches to combating the diseases they cause.

Apicomplexan species constitute a diverse group of parasitic protozoa, which are responsible for a wide range of diseases in many organisms. Despite differences in the diseases they cause, these parasites share an underlying biology, from the genetic controls used to differentiate through the complex parasite life cycle, to the basic biochemical pathways employed for intracellular survival, to ...

Introduction: A wide variety of protozoa and helminthes could influence the heart directly or indirectly. The manifestations may lead to different warning signs with the most frequent myocardium and pericardium. The parasites related to the heart diseases are reviewed in the present study. Methods and Materials: This review article has been performed by searching cardiac disease, helminthes, a...
متن کاملQuantum catalysis in enzymes: beyond the transition state theory paradigm. A Discussion Meeting held at the Royal Society on 14 and 15 November 2005.
How do enzymes work? What is the physical basis of the phenomenal rate enhancements achieved by enzymes? Do we have a theoretical framework that accounts for observed catalytic rates? These are the foremost questions-with particular emphasis on tunnelling phenomena-debated at this Discussion Meeting by the leading practitioners in the field.
